width of wheels?

Will 17x11 cause excessive understeer or will the added traction be worth it? Should the fronts and rears be the same width (all 17x9.5)? I think I'm gonna get these boyds.

I put this on the autocross board too but by the looks of the dates on the posts, its pretty dead over there.

It really depends on your suspension setup and your weight balance. My car is light in the back due to removed spare/jack and no rear seats. This gives me some understeer. Once I relocate the battery to the back and tune the suspension some more I should be able to get it more neutral... Unless you're planning on taking your car to the track like me don't worry about it. Your overall traction should be higher and between understeer and oversteer, under is the more easily managed of the two.

Sweet side pipes!

I want to do that, especially if there are 2 more on the other side! (although I don't really think that there are.)

the suspension is thirdgens and fourth gens for that matter is very well balanced when it comes to the equality of front to rear grip. that means that running a larger rear wheel wil tend to create more rear grip and cause the car to understeer.
the only way you can really get away with this and use it to your advantage is if you have aenough power and knowledge to "steer by throttle", that is to use rear wheel spin to help the car rotate. i can tell you from my own road race/auto-x experiences that it is a hard thing to larn and not often the fastest way around, it is however a hell of a lot fo fun once you learn how to do it.

Understeer is not a problem for me with my setup.
17x11" in back with 315/35/17 and 17x8" with 235/45/17 in the front.

Like Andy I have ALL things unimportant gone (carpet, stereo, seats, emissions) and my battery moved to the rear with larger sway bars , a wonder bar, and a tower brace so if anything I get some oversteer around some uneven streets just because my suspension is so damn hard.

are we talking about real performance driving or street driving? street driving is completely different. you will never see the limits of a car on the street.

If you go with the factory 16in rim, and go with matching tire sizes in all the corners, it is 255/50/16's. This keeps the 26in diameter of the stock wheel, and only rubs slightly at full lockout in the front.
