Car: 1989 firebird
Engine: 350 tpi
Transmission: 700r4
random hose
under my hood i have this random *** hose just sticking up and i have absolutely no clue where its suppose to go to.. in my picture with the engine you can see it with all them other hoses all around it.. when my engine idles it starts to smoke in that area some one please help!!!!

If the picture is the one in your profile then i think thats were ur oil breather is suppost to go, if its open like that then it will smoke. If the original is missing just buy a cheap spectre breather from autozone or pepboys put it were that tube is sticking out the valve cover.

That is the "Breather" hose from the valve cover to the side of the stock air cleaner. Inside the air cleaner is a white pad which serves as a filter for the fumes which come out of your engine (due to internal pressures) and are to be reburned by going back down through your carburetor. You have to have a breather of some sort whether it is this one or a different one. If not, then your engine will have excessive internal pressure and can develop oil leaks caused by the pressure blowing out gaskets.
