SEO! Sudden engine death! lol

Hey peeps need advice.I bought a 1989 iroc and after i drive it for about 30 minutes and it gets hot my car coughs and stalls like i ran out of gas.I wait about 10 minutes then i hear what sounds like an air pressure release toward the back of the car.Sometimes i hear 2 releases tizzzzzzzzzzzzz...Then start it up and it runs fine but then i smell alot of gas fumes! The Car has new plugs ,coils, fuel pump, fuel pump relay switch and more....2 days ago i replaced the fuel filter and it was totally nasty with lil chunky deposits on the rear side of the filter. Not good! When the car is running fine i still smell gas but not so much as when i crank it up after it stalls.Could this be the fuel line clogged from that junk that came out the fuel filter or do i have some kind of fuel leak?.Also...The car runs alot slower than a 5.7 should be running and people next to me on the highway are probably wondering why my sporty fresh painted Iroc is moving so slow! Any advice truly appreciated...Thanks in advance. My name is Cliff.

Maybe something is getting sucked up from the bottom of the tank then settles back. What is your fuel level? As far as air pressure release, sounds like the tank is building too much pressure. Not sure if that would cause a stall in itself.
