3.1 to 5.0 TBI Fuel Injection Swap

3.1 to 5.0 TBI Fuel Injection Swap
Hello,
I've got a 1992 camaro that was originally a 3.1 V6. I've pulled the motor and installed a 1992 camaro 5.0 TBI engine and ECM. The V6 fuel rails bolt directly to the 5.0 throttle body without modification, but from what I understand the 3.1 fuel pump produces too much pressure for the 5.0. What is the best way to correct this problem? Should I use an inline pressure regulator? Swap the pump for a v8 pump? Or am I missing something and my throttle body has a built in pressure regulator.
Thanks

Re: 3.1 to 5.0 TBI Fuel Injection Swap
fuel pumps dont create pressure they create volume the regulator in the 5.0 TBI unit will determine the pressure. A lot of us have upgraded to TPI pumps or higher pounds per hour pumps w/ no problems. Now I am not 100% sure about the v6 fuel pump setup. I know some setups can overpower the stock regulator in the tbi unit and the return line cannot keep up. hopefully someone else can chime in and tell ya what I do not know.

the v6 pump is the same as the v8 tpi pump.
it will either work with the v6 pump with no changes with the internal regulator,if the tbi regulator cant keep up u will have to add a bypass regulator
if u use a inline regulator that has no return line it will over work the pump and it will burn out in very short time
i do have to ask why u went threw the trouble of swaping engines and installed a tbi 305 instead of a 350

Awesome, I was hoping to hear that the throttle body unit had an internal regulator. Now, I just hope it can keep up.
The reason for the swap is because the 3.1 went defective and I happened to have the 5.0 out of another camaro that I had wrecked a couple of years prior. I decided to go this route because I have nearly every possible part from that came with the 5.0 down to the original window sticker.
I know im in the wrong section, but does anyone know whether or not the V6 trans lock out plug will operate the 700r that I installed? Its the same plug.
Thanks for all the help

Re: 3.1 to 5.0 TBI Fuel Injection Swap
Okay, heres my question, I'm fixing to do a v6 (3.1) swap to a 350 Tbi v8 which came from an 89 truck. I have harness, computer, mounts ect. Even the tranny. Since my Camaro is a 91 and the speedo is controlled by the computer, how can I use my speedo with the older 89 tranny which is setup for cable?
