emission hose routing AND vacum line problem

I'm in need of some help here with my vacuum lines there's some lines which i just don't know where they go I've searched online but still am not sure where they go. I have provided some pictures and the lines are highlighted so you guys can see which ones I'm having issues with i also included a emission hose routing picture with check marks on the ones that are connected properly thanks in advance

Some Help

In your first photo, the hose that you show a "?" on connects to the charcoal cannister port where you also have a "?". I know this because I just replaced that hose this morning. Get 3/8" inside diameter fuel hose. Mine was dried out and broke in just about the same place yours did. That smaller hose with the "T" fitting goes below the charcoal cannister and connects to the vacuum reservoir. That one broke on me as well. It's no fun getting to that one as you need to get under the vehicle to reach it.

Re: Some Help

In your second photo, I believe that most likely has to do with your EGR system. I'll even go out on a limb here and say that those two small hoses were once one. The PO probably cut it to disable the EGR solenoid. Perhaps the EGR valve has gone bad and the PO didn't want to bother with it. Good luck getting it back to stock condition. And I don't mean that in a bad way. That's what I've been doing with my '85 T/A and I have a carb rather than TBI so I know what you're going through dealing with old and dried out hoses.

Re: Some Help

The vacuum reservoir looks like a black softball. This holds vacuum for your cruise control. The larger hose that is coming from your engine connects to the charcoal cannister which looks like a small coffee can. In your first pic you show a "?" on the port that you need to connect that hose to. Unfortunately, you probably need to go to the parts store and get 40" of new hose like I did. Always go a bit longer on the hose as you can always cut excess off but there's no way to stretch a short hose. I think I ended up cutting off about four inches. By the way, I'm assuming that the hose coming from your engine is a larger than normal vacuum hose? Where exactly is that coming from?

Re: Some Help

After looking closely at the hose diagram, I think you may be on to something with your thought that the open hose in the first photo goes to the port in yellow on the second photo. Since my car is carb'd and a bit older than yours, some of the routing is different. I'm assuming now that the hose in the first photo is coming from port "C" of your TBI body? Then that needs to go to the PCV valve as shown in the diagram.

Don't get discouraged. If there is an auto salvage nearby, why not see if there's a Camaro or Firebird out there. Besides, you never know what you might pick up.

Re: emission hose routing AND vacum line problem

the question mark you have on the canister is the vent. nothing has to go there. the hose from the engine goes to the top port on your canister. the lower port on the canister goes to the tbi vent line. it is the one with the valve on it. on the port on the intake it tees off. one goes to the bulb mounted under the charcoal canister and the other to the line coming out of the harness that goes to the a/c controls. been thru it many times. no its not carbed.

Re: emission hose routing AND vacum line problem

Oh wow thanks those are great pictures and that engine is super clean. And I hate to say this but it still not clear to me you would have to refer to the pictures in the order that I posted them or better yet take a whole picture of your engine and edit in paint to show me where the lines go I know I'm asking for a lot an it's really ignorant of me . I apologize

Re: emission hose routing AND vacum line problem

ok i will state it.
1. the question mark on the top of the canister in which you posted is a vent. goes to nothing. VENT TO ATMOSPHERE.

2. the question mark you have on the hose from the engine goes to the top port on the canister right next to the question mark.

3. in the second pic that is on the back of the engine by the dizzy. that vacuum connection goes to the bulb connection that goes to the line in the 4TH PIC and the the bulb mounted under the canister ( under car) that you have the red lines on in the first pic.

no that is not how it goes. the MAP SENSOR feeds off the vacuum line on the back of the tbi under the fuel line fittings. the ball comes from the first vacuum line after the check and the second line goes to the the a/c heater controls in the dash.
