Replaced egr now car idles/runs terrible
1992 camaro rs 305 v8. I just replaced the egr valve now the car runs and idles terribly. I triple checked all my connections and everything seems to be in place what could be wrong??

Welcome to TGO, don't know if you got it sorted yet but perhaps you were sold the wrong type of EGR. There's like 3 different types that depend on back pressure and other stuff. I read a post on here forever ago that explained the types and was looking for it now. I think the last letter on the end of the number on the valve is what signifies which of the 3 types it is. Have your parts retailer (or their competitor) double check your part number.
Edit: Turns out there's 4 different systems and the differences can be found on page 574 of the service manual linked to here.

Unplug the vac. line to the egr valve and plug it. If it runs better the egr sol. Is bad. Some cars you can use a mirror to see if the egr is opening when it is not supposed to. It sound like your valve is slightly open when it is suppose to be closed. And like was said above make sure you have the right one from your parts dealer. Hope this helps.
