Is moisture getting into my throttle body?
Hey guys, im new here and this is my first post. ive read alot of posts and i gotta say, this forum, and all you guys are great, with a lot of useful information too! so thanks go out to you all and i am really looking forward to helping my fellows out when i can. but anyways, heres my thoughts
noticed every time it rains my car has trouble starting. i checked the distributor cap and didnt see any cracks or signs of moisture leaking in. i dont have any rubber strip on the windshield directing water away from the distributor ( i think i read somewhere that i should have one). ive also noticed whenever i take my air cleaner off the bonnet, theres a bunch of gunk and moisture round the bottom of the bonnet, which kinda just sits there lossely. i was wondering if a bead of rtv sealent around the base of the bonnet would help keep moisture out of the throttle body and solve this issue. or is the bonnet supposed to be sitting there loosely? i really have no idea lol. any thoughts are greatly appretiated thanks

I personally dont think a little moisture would cause it to have a hard time starting unless the throttlebody was filled with water.
I'd start with cleaning the throttlebody and replacing the cap and rotor anyways since its cheap and easy and probably needs to be done.
