The car been sitting outside with no oil changes for 5 years. Only started once a month & driven twice in 5 years. This is very bad for the engine/car?
I also found a nest in the air filter & the speedometer, a/c, & fan died while I was driving!

Yes, bad. All sorts of things happen; condensation occurs in it, fule vapors dilute it with gasoline, parts rust and that gets in there, etc.
By all means change it before you drive it any more.

Thanks for the reply but it is not my car. I was looking to buy it. The person want $5k for it and I was thinking if I should buy it. It seemed to run strong. I drove it for 1/2 hour and it was fine. It only staled once while backing up but maybe it was not warmed up yet(carbs!).
How much could it cost if something was wrong with the engine & what would have to be done.

$5k sounds like an awful lot... it would have to be totally cherry, garage kept, low (<20k) miles, L69, all options (power everything, maybe Recaro interior), like new paint before I would pay that much for it.
A car that's been sitting for a long time will need tires IMMEDIATELY if they don't pop on your way home. Every rubber part in it, including belts, hoses, seals, suspension bushings, etc. will be dry-rotted. Not that all of that can't be taken care of, but it costs money.
I would pass unless I could get the price down to about half that.

I guess I will. It does have the recaro interior in vg condition. It has been painted once already & has alot of overspary. Because of sitting outside for so long it needs a new paint job. Overall it is only a plum but I though as an investment it would be good b/c there are not many around, all orginal & complete with all the the 15th Ann. stuff.
I will run away. Thanks for the info & saving me $5k.
