Engine break in and coated headers - Third Generation F-Body Message Boards

I have heard that a new engine and/or cam should not be broken in with new coated headers on. Is this true? I hear it will burn the un cured coating off while running it at 2000 rpm for 30 minutes.
I do have an old set if necessary to break it in with an old set.

I would think as long as the coating has be given time to dry? that it won't be a problem. Same as running the car down the highway for 20mins right?

When car craft builds a new engine they always use new headers and no problems.

I would think it's the same as running it down the highway for 20 minutes, makes sense.
Doesn't mention it in the instructions either so I guess it'll be alright.

I'd imagine the risk is, soemthing being wrong, timing or lean, etc and you end up glowing the headers. It'd be a handy suggestion if you were firing the engine on a stand or what not and had spare set of headers laying around i guess.
