Check this Supra out!

How would you like to meet up with this thing on the street?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1868360191

It is sort of 3rd gen related. It has a Camaro engine.

Car: 99 Formula
Engine: LS1
Transmission: T56
Axle/Gears: 342
I'd rather have a 3rd Gen with a SBC in it.

I would too. But I would like to see the underside of that car to see how the trans and rear was set up.

But think of the HP to weight ratio. Should be pretty good.

Well, i guess the 5.7 has more pulling power than the stock 6 banger LMAO. Nothing like seeing a trailer hitch on a Supra...and a Supra "SS", at that.

Car: yy wife, crazy.
Engine: 350, Vortecs, 650DP
Transmission: TH-350
Axle/Gears: 8.5", 3.42
Actually I had that same thought about the HP to weight ratio, but the non-turbo Supra (which I'll guess that was before the swap) weighs about #3450lbs, and that's with the straight six.

I would guess the SBC weighs a little more than the straight six that came in the car, so the HP to weight ratio is nill compared to a 3rd gen.

But it's still cool to see someone do something like that. It's a unique thing, and I like that.

I agree. As long as people do things like that, the 350 will never die!

I just think it is very innovative to see things like that. Plus, it looks like it was well done. Makes me want to go and work on my car.

Wow Look at that.

They Completely destroyed the weight distrobution of that car, Making it handle about as well as a forklift.

If I were to spend 15k On a 88 Surpa, I would Go ahead and Swap in a late model Twin Turbo 3.0 L

Helluva lot more potential than a stock L98, and Maintain weight distrobution too.

people are stupid, what Can I say ?

You meant as well as a thirdgen, not a forklift. :sillylol:

Can we say "Plow"? "I drive a plow."

Seriously though, you're SOOO RIGHT. Those Supras actually have a magnetic field around them that pulls them to the metal core of Earth. I don't think a Mac Truck could make them slide in a hairpin turn.

But I still think it's cool.

Carefull..your ignorance is showing.

If you knew anything about the subject at hand, 450-500Hp on stock internals is pretty darn cheap to come by on even the old-school supra turbos.

IN fact, on the non-turbo motor that guy had, for less than $300 in scrap parts and gaskets..he could have bolted up the turbo manifold and stock huffer to the 7M-GE, and be about mid 12s at the strip.

The bellhousing adaptor is a no brainer, and the rear end is most likely a really nice clutch LSD at about 3.9:1ish.

Myself..I think its a shame a POS SBC was put into the car..when for the same $ or significantly less (especially hassle) he could have ended up lighter, quicker, faster, and could out corner bort's car on a good day.

Car: Junk
Engine: Junk with nitrous
Transmission: Junk with gears
I really don't see whats so special about stuffing a STOCK 350TPI motor into a stock supra with aftermarket rims and exhaust. WOW. If he was going for speed he should have at least modified the 350 or done something special to it. Check out the Grand Prix in my sig. Now THATS what a brand changing engine swap SHOULD be. Double the displacement and 3 times the power, and LIGHTER than the factory cast iron intaked 301!! hehehehehe.

Any real import enthusiast can tell you how horrible American engines are in the American cars. Why on earth would anyone want one in their import? Get some real parts like nos, dp, turbo, and high polished cold air intake and go faster for less money. Duh.

Well looks like the import spirit still flourishes in this moron, Considering the only thing he did do beyond stock was a "highly polished intake"

If you want to Swap an American Motor into a Car with an inferior design as part of a Neat project, awesome. SBC's using Corvair transaxles Work nicely in Vw Bugs.

Just make sure you pick a car with an inferior design, first.

What that Guy did was Downgrade.

Don't take POS literally. Obviously we know jap cars are made well, and they hold up well. Then again, it's all in how you take care of your car. I just choose to drive the cars I drive for obvious reasons. I like a car not everyone else has, and one that's not a very common sight. I just think imports are the dumbest, and most sickeningly common looking cars . And as far as the fast factor, anything can go fast when it breathes nitrous. Doesn't make it look any better though. Like yours, it's just my opinon.

Wow. Not only is it bordering on ThirdGen technical discussion, but our opinions are starting to get a little too biting. I can hear the locks clicking as we speak. There's nothing wrong with reviewing the topic, but let's keep it a little more civil, please.

Besides, Buick was doing far better with a one gallon turbo engine way before the people at Toyota "originated" the idea. Before you jump out of your shorts, remember that BOP was toying with a turbo 231 in the factory as early as 1983. Typical eastern car company "ingenuity". Let's see what technogly we can copy today...

Rather have this TT Supra....

Update 01/24/01

Chris recently installed a 9.5" VIGILANTE converter by Precision Industries which dropped his 60 foot times from around 1.93 seconds to under 1.6 seconds. Best ET to date is a 11.437@118 mph.

Not bad for a homebuilt..
