Wet behind the ears???
Ok... here is the deal. I know the source of the problem but would like other views on it before I hit up the auto parts store and start buying up everything I think i need. Everytime it rains or is moist outside my car WON'T start... it'll crank but not turn over. So I know this to be a cap problem... sure enough I check it and one of the screws isn't all the way tight. I tried to tighten it but the dam thing wouldn't catch to screw in tighter. So I'm thinking its new cap & rotor time. But even before I had this problem I had trouble getting the car started at times... it took a couple seconds and when the car did trun over it would run rough at a grand rpm's till I let it sit for a bit before I start to drive and then it would drop to somewhat normal revs... around 700 to 900. I like to hear your thoughts on my dilema and any suggestions you'd have for me. Thanks for taking the time to look this over.

that is almost exactly what mine is doing. I thought it was random, but now that I think of it, the two times mine has done that it has been wet outside. I just changed my cap and rotor and one of the screws wouldn't tighten down sufficiently, as if the hole in the distributor was stripped. perhaps this is our problem.

sure enough. I just went out and tightened that loose screw to the tightest point before it strips and the car fired right up. I would check to see if you have the same problem. I guess I will have to heli-coil the distributor or get a new one. hope this helps. you have inadvertently helped me. thanks.

I guess I'm a better mechanic then I thought :-) I was...
I'm bout to do the same this weekend... still can't operate the ride till the weather gets warmer and dryer... once the distrib gets wet there is NO hope of starting the Fireturd.
I'm glad I could help in some way

I have a similar problem, but I've pin-pointed it down to my MAF. Moisture is managing to get inside the connectors. Takes a crank or two and some heat under the hood on damp days to fix it.
