TPS adjustment
How can I check the voltage on my TPS...I usually adust it manually til I feel it is alright...it has worked so far... and what should I set my base timing at, also the distributor timing...I am planning to do a complete tune up on it again after I get the cat cut off and install a Hooker Aerochamber exhaust on it. also what should I gap the plugs to....and is there any suggestions that I should do? I have heard about this MAF burn off, what should I do to check if it is ok? I am also considering taking off the A.I.R. system, will it affect anything and how hard will it be? - AARON

Vicious,
And for a little background data:
A complete tune up on your engine includes:
And for a little background data:
- Are you getting DTCs? (Error Codes?);
- Is the A.I.R. system causing problems? Normally, they don't;
- Is the cat causing a problem? (See above);
- Do you really expect to gain anything from their removal?
- If you're not getting error codes, is there some other reason you're concerned about the MAF?
A complete tune up on your engine includes:
- Cooling system inspection;
- Clean or replace spark plugs;
- Ignition wire testing;
- Distributor cap/rotor (if you don't have the OptiSpark);
- PCV valve cleaning or replacement;
- Vacuum hose inspection;
- Air filter;
- Cleaning the throttle body and IAC;
- Adjusting mixture control and choke/pulloff/idle (carbed engines);
- Checking/setting TPS voltage;
- Check/adjust minimum air rate;
- Check/adjust timing;
- Code scan.
