WTF? Car is acting really strange
A couple days ago I'm just cruising down the highway and the radio shuts off, the AC shuts off, the engine starts misfiring badly. It's running on 2 or 3 cylinders randomly - just enough to keep the car moving down the road. The voltmeter is showing 9 volts, and the tach is bouncing wildly. The CHECK ENGINE light is also flickering.
It was only happening at high speed with heavy throttle. I thought maybe it was just a fluke thing but it just happened again...
Now for the strange part It temporarily cured itself when I hit a bump. I hit another bump and it started the same BS. After about 10 seconds it cleared up. It's running fine now, and with just a quick visual check everything checks out OK.
I'm going to look at it thoroughly tonight but any leads are greatly appreciated

Sounds like a short in something important. Have someone who knows what they're doing go over the entire electrical system. Or it could be something crazy lol. Good luck.

Indeed, that is VERY strange. I would recommend getting a skilled mechanic to look it over.

I already checked the usual, grounds (focusing on the rear of passenger head) and straps, all fusible links by the starter, and battery cables.
I think it may be the alternator. It was charging to 16.5V briefly one day just before all the other problems began. Could a faulty voltage regulator or rectifier cause this? Everything checks out OK now

My car was doing about the same thing and it ended up being the ground wire that bolt to the heads i never attached during the V6 to V8 swap so check them. A good way of doing it is start the car and move the wiring harness to see if it acts up on you
