oil pressure goin down!
my oil presser all of a sudden dropped down to about 15psi at idle and 35 on the gas. could it be an electrical problem? when i installed my stereo i blew 3 fuses and thats when it started happening. what could this be? the engine is suppose to be rebuilt with about 40k miles. thanks alot

From what I hear (sorry) but the stock gm gauges aren't trustworthy. I have problems with my volt guage, reads low ALL the time but pumps 14 volts, i can actually push the dash in and it will move up.
I suggest you add a mechanical oil pressure gauge if your worried about it. 30 min job IF that.

i checked the oil today, was a tiny bit low so i went ahead and filled it up. started up the car and was where it should be till it warmed up. then it went down again. the needle jumped a bit and went down. i checked the oil sending unit and it has a little oil on it. and i have noticed goin down the road when i go to pass somebody and i kick it down then u smell oil on the exhaust. coudl it be leaking from the oil sending unit? or could it be the oil pump?

most gm oil pumps dont easily go bad, and if you look at other similar posts everyone will tell you to do the easy stuff first.
*check oil level
*replace sending unit
*use aftermarket test guage
*then start to look at oil pump

i didnt think it was the oil pump just because it went bad within like 2 days. just went down. and at idle you can sit and watch it jump a bit. so im hoping its in the oil sending unit. about 13 bucks at auto zone so im gunna get one tonight and hopefully put it on tonight or tommarow. car runs fine also. no different than what it use to be.
