Oil additives have a little snake in 'em?

Ok, so a friend of mine, hes going to trade in his ford(ick) ranger. It's only got 56k on it, he wants a extended cab... so I know hes going to get poked trading in...

My dad he's looking for a truck, I know it's history..so instead of letting my friend trade in his truck, I have him ssell it to my dad for 5k dad gets a sweet deal, and my buddy..well he gets a fair price for his rig.. BUT.. he doesn't have one to drive..

Being the friend I am I let him borrow my truck with a chev 350 for a few days.

To show his appreciation, he takes my truck in for a 25 point lube oil/filter I thank him, and on the way to take him home he tells me he threw some $23 OMI additive.. not only a quart in my oil, but my rear end, front end, and tranny.. I try to hide my ehhrrrmm fear?

I'm picky about what I put in my oil... anyhow this is a long enough post... I want to know what experiences good/bad you guys have had with teflon, and zinc type additives in your oil.. I know how often you tear down your motors, have you ever seen the inside after such a treatment?

I'm about to go down and have all my fluids drained, flushed, and re fiulled with the good plain old dino oil it's ok it needed it anywas.. i'd do it myself but not all at once, too much for me. I tend to agree with this article, but it seems they are amsoil guys and i dont know if their just trying to make amsoil sound better.. I know it's already good stuff

So upon investigation I happened uponTHIS article..

**edit**

As for my friend, it was about the kindest thing anyone has ever done for me, he must have spent near $200 he's not a mechanic type guy .. i do all his work so I wont say a word as to save his feelings

Good call, it sounds like he meant well. I'm not in agreement with that engine snot stuff that claims you can put it anywhere. Actually I have never seen the thick stuff used anywhere but in engines untill I read the back of a bottle of HighTach treatment. The stuff has percentages for each fluid you add it to, I believe rearend is up to 25% and auto tranny is up to 10% of the addative. While you could probably leave it in your rear, I'm not too sure I'd want it in my tranny. The stuff takes about two minutes just to drip out of the bottle, not like any tranny fluid I've seen. I could imagine if you want to cover up a problem you could use it to add instant pressure to a weak trans, but if you've had no probs with regular fluid then you might not be able to go back to it after using the engine snot. In my opinion, just drop your tranny panny, It's not going to hurt the rear and you'll change your motor oil soon enough anyway.
