Internally Balanced Flexplate 383
Anyone know if the 86 & up 153t flexplates for small BC/1 piece main, internally balanced would use a weight?
I just received my new one from jegs and it has a weight. I thought an internally balanced engine didn't use one.

one piece cranks seal parts even though it's internally balanced there is a weight on the flex palte to make up for the mass removed when the flywheel flange was removed to allow for the one piece crank seal. it confuses a lot of people and is listed wrong or in a confussing way in lot of catalogs

I was told it was internally balanced on the front and externally balanced on the rear of the one piece cranks. Is this accurate?

not really. the balance of an engine is determined by the mass of the couter weights compared to the mass of the rod piston assembly. equall mass would be an internal balance engine, which a 350 and 305 is. the weight on the fly wheel is to replace the mass removed from the flywheel flange

Great information I love this place!
This would explain why I had a hard time finding one to begin with. I knew it shouldn't have been a problem. I must have had 4 other guy's I know scratching their head.
Thanks, The project will continue, look out spring stang's.
