cars been sitting...now it wont start!
Alright, my car has been sitting for like 3 months now. I went to start it up this morning....it turns and turns and turns, but wont catch. In the threesome of fuel, air, spark, its getting no fuel. For diagnostic purposes, ive installed a clear filter. the filter is bone dry. it has light scents of fuel, but no liquid in it. Ive checked the plugs, all 8 are giving spark. and the car is getting air. I believe its still the stock, in-tank pump. When you turn on the car, the pump doesnt prime. i need to know, which wire(s) is it that hooks up to the pump. ive got schematics and all, but i need to know WHERE to look under the hood, etc. Also, i cant seem to find the pump relay. ive done a search, but where the search says it should be, it isnt. so any help what-so-ever would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

well if it did, it was removed. i have a 350 now (originally a crossfire). when i got it it had a pump block off plate installed. I have tried the bypass and powering directly from the fuse block, like was suggested in my search, but to no avail. i will try that test terminal and let you know. thanks in advance.

So it WAS a CFI. That clarifies things. From what I can determine, the CFI installations used a fuel pump relay inside the passenger compartment, either on the fuse panel or swing-down convenience center.
Be careful how you test teh voltage at the fuel pump terminal. It still relies on the relay, and you certainly don't want to ground that terminal.

Ok, i kind of understand that diagram. Where would the maf stuff be? would it be under the hood in the "normal" location? or in the pass. cabin like the relay? and would the fact that i have no computer (its been removed, i just have empty clips) effect the wiring in any way? also how does the oil pressure switch come into play?

I dont think i have an ECM. Where would it be located? the only wire that was hooked up to the oil pressure sender is the one that *i think* goes to the gauge. Is there a way to bypass the relay and whatnot? All i need to know is if the pump works or not. if it does, then i will take time and figure out the wiring. if it doesn't, i will just skip to the part where i figure out how to yank it.

If you examine the diagram, you'll discover that the "G" terminal on the ALDL connector (under the dash) is conneted to the fuel pump THROUGH the fuel pump relay. If your relay was removed, you'll have to find the heavy tan/white wire that feeds the fuel pump. Apply 12VDC+ power to this wire and the pump should operate.

Alright Vader, you just made my night:hail: . Hooked it up to a diff. power source and it primed. It fired up (after some sputtering).
Will this be a suitable replacemtent for the relay?

thanks again for all the help (and patience) Vader:hail:
*edit* also, i read about a helper pump to reduce vapor lock. I understand how this would work, but would the fact that my stock pump pumps at a different psi (at least i think it does) than my mechanical that i got from a friend cause any problems? I do not know what psi the stock cfi pump pumps at, but the Holley my friend gave me (130 gph, hly-12-327-13) has a preset shutoff of 7.5-9 psi. Would that cause any problems? in the end i have the Mallory 3-port return style setting the final PSI before it goes tot he carb.
