if so, look at the pics with "misc" in the title. I need to know what each of those connectors goes to, or COULD go to. if I need to elaborate on which one it is, I'll be online all night at flyitlikeustolit on aim. I can send you the pic with the connector circled. thanks for all the help guys.

Well your page isn't working real well; but the remains of that 2-wire connector with the round barrel shaed part and yellow & black wires used to be your coolant temp sensor. The thing to do is to get a new sensor, because it will have a different style of connector that doesn't disintegrate like that one did, and the connector comes with it.
It would also help if you got some kind of image processing software, such as Paint Shop Pro. It can really make a difference. Here's one of your other pics (these are AC compressor wires, incidentally) procesed so it's visible, as an example.

OBTW... the individual spade connector with the yellowish plastic body in that pic is the temp gauge sender wire, and the little short one hanging out by the master cyl is the idle kicker solenoid on the carb. There sholud also be a little round connector hanging off of the AC clutch one (the one with 2 wires), that will go to the pressure switch in the back of the compressor.

thanks RB. I was hoping the connector with that little resistor looking thing would be for the distributor, but i guess not. how could i take the pics better to make it look clearer? taking them at night wasn't the smartest thing to do...
I'll try and post a couple more pictures so i can find out what the oither connectors are. I'll just take new pics or something. if anyone wants, I can email them a pic or two or four so they can see what they are. thanks again for the help.

also, I'm eliminating the computer completely. in that case, i ned to find the connection for the distributor, the oil pressure sending unit, the temp sending unit, the alt wires, (found those), all the connections going to the starter (are there about 4 of them? if so i found them.) the ground wire for the block that connects to the firewall, and the wires for the A/C compressor. all the wweatherpack connectors just get shoved out of the way? or removed altogether? any other input would be appreciated.

The computer wiring all comes from the pass side, in one big harness; just peel that entire harness back, take out your inner fender well on that side, and either coil it up and leave it in there, or find the big square plug that you can see there, and take it out (it has a slide clip sort of thing on the interior side holding it in). The entire ECM harness all comes out as one big unit, without cutting anything (I can't emphasize the "without cutting anything" part enough!), and you can put it in a box or something so that if you ever move to California, like I did once, it's all right there to put back.
The dist wires are in the same breakout from the main driver's side harness as the OPSU wire. They're a fat pink wire and a small brown one. OPSU is dark blue and has a round rubber boot. The temp sending unit is in the pic above.
You see the difference in the 2 pics.... it's not a question of how you take the pic, after all I didn't take a new pic, i just processed the ones you posted to make them useful. That's probably why nobody answered, is because they couldn't see anything in them. I used Paint Shop Pro, which is alot like Photoshop for this purpose except it costs about $500 less.

awesome. I'll invest in some decent software then. thanks for taking the time, RB. you've been a life-saver the entire way through this swap. I'll keep looking for any other stray wires i can find, but i think I'll have them in place soone. I'm using a non-cc carb, so i'll tape off the idle kicker plug, and look for a way to remove the ecm/harness WITHOUT CUTTING ANYTHING. i hat cutting stuff. it's a pain in the @$$ trying to put wire nuts on everything.

the distributor hookup.... that's for the tach AND power, right, so there's no need to run a power source from my battery? ( i assume the pink one is power)

awesome. I hooked up the A/C and ALT, and ran my vacuum lines. I also found the OPSU hook-up. I took pictures of the last 4 or 5 connectors I can't place. if you want, I could send the pics to you, or try to post them on webshots. what do you recommend i do? I haven't been able to get the photo software yet, so they're still fresh off of the camera. I'm also working tonight, so I won't be able to respond to your messge until about 9 or 9:30. thanks for the help RB!
