Cutting out on acceleration
Just recently had a problem with my 89 Iroc cutting out when I accelerate. It does it really bad when cold but quits once it warms up. I was thinking maybe fuel filter, but changed that with no effect on the problem. Now I'm thinking maybe coil, MAF or TPS sensor. I have a coil on the way I just won on ebay. Any input greatly appreciated.

Car: 88 Formula 350
Engine: 5----->.7 or so they say
Transmission: seven hundred with a remainder of 4
Axle/Gears: 9 bolt 3.27
For sure its not your coil because if it went out you would not be able to start your car....if its your maf sensor just turn the car off and unplug it from underneath then turn the car on. If your car idles relatively higher and the check engine light comes on and it runs smoother then its your maf. It would be a good idea to go through the usual suspects before you go on...spark plugs, spark plug wires and making sure that they are not arching on the block or the current jumping wires(best way to cure the current jumping are wire seperators), cap and roter(make sure that there is not much corrosion), try using a bottle of fuel injector cleaner on your next tank (I recoment Techron progaurd but that is my preference as I have seen its results being very possitive), and the timing. Hope this helps you.
PS does it do this while in neutral ? if not then it could be the torque converter/flywheel (if auto) or the clutch plate/flexplate (if manual) if you take the bell housing off you can see if the plate is cracked and it would usualy be by the bolts.

Yeah it does it in neutral and park also. It feels like it is just totally losing spark or fuel to all the cylinders. I'm thinking maybe O2 sensor too, but I'm not sure.

I think I may have found the culprit. I did as onfire said and unplugged the MAF and took a test drive. sure enough it ran as strong as ever without cutting out. Anybody know where I can get a decent priced MAF sensor?

kragen or cheifs they should provide you with a decent rebuilt one for around 100-120. THey are usualy rebuilt nothing wrong with that ... the layout is relativly standard internaly just the parts are not as durable as we would like them to be. Your local parts store should have them. I would not recomend taking the screen off or buying one with out the screen. You dont want to give it any incentive to break on you as it is...it is not the most durable of all parts on the tpi style fbodys. Anyhow have fun out there.
