Engine gets too hot after head swap

Engine gets too hot after head swap
Hi, I just did a head swap over the past 4 days in my 91 Camaro. Everything went well and the car is back on the road except now the temperature is WAY higher than it should be. It always stayed around 190 degrees and if it got higher the fan would kick in, now the fan turns on at around 240 degrees which is too hot in my opinion. I am thinking of just hooking up a switch and turning it on with that when I'm driving, but does anyone have any idea why it would do this? Where is the thermostat located? Is it in the heads and maybe thats why its different?

u swapped ur own heads but u dont know where the thermostat is?, its on the intake manifold.

Yeah, that's kind of funny.
Do you mean to ask where the fan switch is? Passenger side head, frontmost sensor above/between spark plugs 2 and 4 IIRC.
Hope you used the right head gaskets. Don't let it overheat.

I had a friend help me swap the heads, so now I know how to do it too. The sensors on the side of the head are plugged in. I don't remember any switch between 2 and 4 spark plugs. But there is a sensor between 6 and 8. It's got full coolant and full oil, its all circulating and working good. I'll just hook up a switch to the fan so its on whenever I'm driving, thatll be a lot healthier for the engine anyway. Thanks for the replies
