Car: 2006 Tacoma X-Runner
Engine: 4.0L DOHC V6
Transmission: 6-Speed Manual
Axle/Gears: 3:15 LSD
Need some help and advice please =(
Luckily the TA is no longer the daily driver so this gives me time to work out this bug. The problem started just recently. Here is what happens; when the car is cold or hasn't been driven long under normal operating temp it acts normal. It's when I have been driving around for awhile under normal operating temps that the car starts to act up. It happens while under light/medium constant throttle. The car will start bucking. It will start bucking lightly and the more you drive the worse it gets. If I give moderate throttle or more it acts normal but will buck when taken back to constant low to medium throttle. I am thinking its a miss. I went under the hood after it started up and gave some throttle in neutral. It sounds like the car has developed a miss but I can't pinpoint the cylinder. The cap and rotor are brand new and the none of the plug wires are burnt. The ignition module also checks out OK when tested. Anyone have any clue on why this is happening Even though the car isn't driven daily it will still be nice to be able to drive it longer than short errands. Please any advice or help will be greatly appreciated. Help!

Car: 1966 impala , 1998 sebring vert,1978 buick regal turbo, 1991 chevy silverado 3/4ton 4x4 lifted
Engine: 283, 2.5,3.8 turbo 350
Transmission: powerglide,auto overdrive, th350,4L80
pull the plugs out and compare them you will most likely find your problem there on which cylinder if any are missing

You could also have a small vacuum leak. Check your plugs and find out if it is a random misfire or just on cylinder. That will help you narrow down the possible causes.

Take a look at the rotor; make sure the tip isn't bent off to the side. That will cause it to run OK when there's not too much timing advance, like idle or WOT; but when there's lots of advance, specifically cruising, the tip will be too far from the correct dist cap terminal to fire it.

i had that exact same problem with mine, i made sure all my spark plug connections were right and i checked for dead cylenders and all that, but that wasnt the problem, i went and got a new tank of gas, put injector cleaner in it and it fixed the problem... dirty fuel filter was my guess, maybe dirty injectors... its fixed now, so I dunno what it was.. haha

I don't think it's fuel or vacuum related being that it only happens after the car has been driven around for awhile under normal operating temps. It's like something is overheating because it will get worse progressively. I will check the plugs although I wanted to avoid that b/c with the Edelbrock headers getting to the plugs is a PITA. I will take a closer look at the cap. One time I had one of the tabs inside the rotor break in half so every so often the car would miss a cylinder due to a bad connection.

Update:
Finally found out what the problem that has been causing me all this stress was. Turned out to be a malfunctioning MAF. It was either getting heatsoaked or just plain acting up when it got warm but not enough to throw any codes. I put the Well's hi-flo one on that I had laying around and the car is back to normal. Just thought I would update so that anyone searching regarding a similar problem can maybe get some use out of this. I am just happy to have the TA 100% operational again
Finally found out what the problem that has been causing me all this stress was. Turned out to be a malfunctioning MAF. Yes it was fine under full throttle and even 3/4 throttle.
