How do I test an hei coil with a multimeter?

I want to test the coil on my car and need to know what the resistance should be and how to test it.

Off the top of my head, I don't know...but the diag for the ignition system in Chiltons, is straight out of the factory manual.

Stock HEI coil?

Primary resistance should be 0.1-1.0 ohms. Secondary resistance should be between 6,000-30,000 ohms.

You can test the primary resistance by connecting the meter probes to the primary and ground connections. The secondary resistance is tested by connecting to the secondary (high voltage) and ground connections.

I found that in about twenty seconds using the feature...
