I just hooked up my Autometer A/F ratio gauge and I'm getting some strange info. I was wondering what the symptoms of a fouled O2 sensor were? I was reading about the workings of the O2 sensor in the little instruction sheet that came with the gauge and it said that running too rich could foul the sensor. Not too long ago I was having a problem with fuel delivery and fouled all 8 plugs...think the sensor went too?

It could be on the brink of going out due to a over rich fuel mixture...depends on how long you drove it that way. It should really being throwing a code 32 on the SES...probably when you are driving around for a while at speeds around 45-55 mph, your SES light may come on and won't go off until you restart the car. If you have your A/F gauge hooked up correctly, and you are in doubt, I would just buy a new one. They are only around $20, and will help your fuel economy some as well.

check the voltage output with a DVM. the senser generates voltage and if it isn't working correctly you'll find that with the voltage check.

So, if the sensor if fouled it will send an overly lean signal? The gauge will drop off the scale on the lean side repeatedly, sometimes for an extended period of time. The auto-x-ray shows the same ultra-low voltage, so it's not the gauge itself. It's bizzare.
