brake stand rpm question

Last night i was trying to do a burnout in my car and it is an automatic and the tires are brand new so couldnt just spin them without doing brake stand. When holding the brakes and flooring the gas for 5 seconds the rpm's never went past 1500. After letting off the brakes the car just started out slow then went up to speed. Can anyone help me here??

like aj said a line lock will help out a lot. not doing stupid **** or showing off on the street will keep you out of trouble and save wear and tear on your car.
