big trouble in little tokyo

ok my car will not start, it will crank but will not start. the last time my car was in runnig order was about a week ago, the day before it quit i retarded the timming to 8* witch is spec. it ran fine the next day then it snowed and my car would not start. choke is in runing order. i gave the distributer some play while cranked and nothing so i thew timming as my problem out. i checked and my roter is spining while crank (i was keeping my battery charged in another car between all this cranking) there is no spark geting to the plug side of the plug wires(witch i replaced 3-4 months ago) so do you think it could be my rotor, ignition modual, or coil
thanks for the help

ok so i replaced the roter, and the igniton mod, but still nothing. i fell like the coil is not making good contact with the roter (the coil sits right on top on my 80) so im low on $$$ and need to know
coil, or new cap?

Clean the contacts on both first and see if it gets you anywhere. It might not even be either.

try the pickup coil which is located in the shaft of the distributer. Not the Coil, not the Ignition module, its the pickup coil.

how about instead of replacing every part it MIGHT be you buy a cheap multimeter for $10 at radio shack and test the parts and the connections FIRST??????

Well that makes no sense...it would crank over but not start...but when you "push" started it...it started up....You may have wiring issues.

Check the Flux Capacitor, and next time you tow, remember 88 mph

Your muffler bearings probably just needed a little lubrication.
Push starting is a good way to loosen them up.
I have to do it to mine about once a year.

Mighta been low blinker fluid too, you can have a hard time turning on the car if your blinker fluid is too low, and you can burn them out too

J/K man... I'm glad you got your car fixed... I would have never thought of "push" starting the car like that.
