That's a fixer.

Make damn sure the body shop you go to is I-car gold class certified. Make them give you a written guarentee and have the insurance company give you a nice rental. (and don't put gas back in the rental! they will charge the insurance company for filling the tank so you don't have to pay for the last fillup)

Thats not too bad. Depending on the year of the car they migh total it though. It looks to be around 800-1200 bucks worth of damage. It looks like the wheel took most of the hit, is it bent? the rear end might have some damage or at least I would say it did anyway$$$$

Well, looks to be a bit more than expected as far as repair costs are concerned.

Back in '94 a semi backed into my car while it was parked at work. the rig pushed the rear of the car about eight feet. Thank God for car alarms, or I'd never would have cought the guy. When I went outside to see what was happening, the truck driver was taking off!! Well, two-and-a-half years later i finally got my money through court....uninsured company and driver, and my insurance company was of no help in the matter.

Anyway, look at the picture of my car, and you will see we have almost identical damage. The only difference is that your rocker ground effect was spared.

Also, look at the estimate I received. I got two estimates and this was the lowest one, and it's from a very reputable shop by me. Notice that the date is from 1994, which means the rates have gone up, so expect to pay more. If you deduct from my estimate the rocker effect which you don't need, door straightening which you don't need, decals which you don't need, ADD left axle, ADD frame rack (to check for a straight frame. With these additions and subtractions and todays rates, you're looking at or above $2000.00

Don't let them tell you that you can just have the quarter repaired...That's a new fender and weld job, and any good shop knows it. I mentioned an axle...They bend easy on our cars, and you WILL notice it on bumpy on-ramps if it is indeed bent. Same with the frame, we have unibody you know, and it's easy to tweak thing out of place. Paint is another big thing. It looks like it may be difficult to match your paint without having the car look like a hillbilly ride after the new paint has set for a year...It'll never match. I'd look at a whole new paint job if you are really set on keeping your car for awhile. Rental car is gonna cost you too.

As mentioned before, Insurance may try to total it out. In that case, get what you can for it, and if you really love your car, be sure to do it up right when you get it repaired. Check out my afterwards picture, and you can tell that I REALLY love my car. Owning it for over NINE years now ought to tell you that.

You shouldn't have any problems getting it fixed. It doesn't look like the frame got bent and unless the wheel/axle got banged up the total cost is probably about $1,000 - $1,500. When my car was hit, I had way more damage to it and the insurance company paid for it.

Make sure you take it to a GOOD body shop. Take your time while trying to find one, talk to friends, have a body shop show you pictures of their work. Its not worth rushing to get it fixed by some scrub just to have it bought back in later on to get the job done right the second time.

Depending on how your paint job looks, argue with the insurance company (or make a deal with the body shop estimator) to get the whole car repainted. From the looks they are gonna have to paint at least a quarter panel anyway and the paint job will look bad if they don't do the whole car.

Take pictures of your car BEFORE you take it to the shop. This way you know have proof of exactly what got damaged this way if they screw something up and try to act stupid you can stick it to them. I took pictures of my car in the wrecker yard before it got towed to the body shop and the tow truck driver gouged up the nose of the car...they tried to say the damage was already there.....should have seen the look on their faces when my pictures proved them wrong.

If your insurance company provides you a rental then good for you. I got to drive the **** out of a V-6 Grand Am for 3 weeks
