Machine Shop Prices

So the time has come, the money had been saved, and I'm ready to move forward with my project. I had a big set back when I found out the block I had was un-usable, but rather than trying to find a block I called up a few machine shops. A few people had reccomended a shop to use, so I went in today and had a long talk with the guy. He really seems to know his stuff, has 25 years experience with this shop, and was willing to talk everything over with me for over an hour. So bottom line...

350 Roller Block, Maged, De-burred, 4 bolt main --- 200

Boil Block --------------------------------------------------- 45
Bore and Hone with Torque Plates -------------------- 165
0 Deck Block ------------------------------------------------ 70
Align Hone Block ------------------------------------------ 120
Install Cam Bearings/Freeze Plugs -------------------- 45
Mount Pisons on Rods/Align Pins/Install Retainers - 40
File rings to fit ---------------------------------------------- 30
Clearance Block for Stroker ----------------------------- 70-140

and finally.. Assemble Short Block --------------------- 250

According to the other prices I got in the area they are quite reasonable, I was just wondering what you guys thought. I feel very comfortable trusting him with my engine and I am probably going to move ahead with this project in the next week or so.

Comments/Suggestions?

Today was D-Day... everything went to the machine shop. Should be done mid next week!

I really like dealing with this shop, Wade takes all the time to explain anything and talk about what he is going to do.
