Help Lots of Vibrations
My car has a lot of vibrations around 2k rpm, it does it when in park so I can eliminate from the transmission back. It's also lost a significant amount of power when I attempt to floor it. I replaced spark plug wires, checked hoses, no trouble codes, engine mounts appear to be in good shape. My exhaust clamps weren't in the best shape so I put a jack under my exhaust to hold it still and I'm still getting a lot of vibrations. I replaced the Transmission about a month ago along with the tourque converter. I really don't wanna have to drop my transimsion again. I've read in other posts that the torque converter may cause vibrations, but I don't know if it still will cause vibrations while it's in park. It just started this yesterday, and I'm dumbfounded as to what could be the problem. Any ideas on what else to check.
By the way it's an 89, 2.8 v6 auto

Check to make sure you have the plug wires routed correctly and that no wires are burnt/damaged, you should be able to find the firing order on here for the 2.8. If you replaced the trans recently then I would recheck the torque on the converter bolts, trans to engine bolts, and the flexplate to crank bolts. If they all are tight then I would do a full tuneup including cap, rotor, plugs, and check the timing. Is the computer throwing any codes?

The computer isn't throwing any codes. The plugs are less than a year old along with the cap. I haven't got a timing gun, but I figured the timing would cuase it to either die or backfire, which it's doing neither. I'll check the Transmission & flexplate bolts when the engine cools down. I remeber putting them on tight but they could have loosened. I thought about that possibility and assumed that as long as it was in park that would not case the problem.

since you have it on ramps and the dust shield is off......start the car and let it idle and crawl underneath and watch the converter and flexplate for wobble. If all looks well then you need to look at a possible ignition miss.

There wasn't any woble there, but I did notice while I was under it that when it vibrated, I tiny gap showed betweend the Engine and Transmission. It's starting to rain now, but I'll try tightening all the bolts to the transmisssion tomorrow (having no garage sucks), and if that doesn't fix it I'll try and have the timing checked. Thanks for the ideas, hopefully I won't have to post back here tomorrow

Check fuel pressure.
Check ignition system.
I will take a chance and say this first:
Check harmonic balancer. Rubber band may have broke causing a wobble hense the vibration. Look at it with the engine running. Should be smooth.

I found the problem, First problem I had a friend help and I didn't double check what he did (so I can't point fingers). When The dipstick was put in, instead of attaching the bracket to the transmission, he bolted it between the transmission and engine block. This created a weak seal, which in turn caused the other bolts to loosen. It created only like a 1/8 inch gap, but was enought to cause massive vibrations. I figured I'd post the solution for others who might have the same problem.
