"Blowing out" the heater core...

Has anyone ever had their heater core blown out with an Air hose to "unclog" the buildup and to allow more heat through the vents? My brother had it done and he said it helped him get about 80 % of his heat back? Has anyone else had any experience with this? (I've noticed that my heat isn't that goog and i was considering this)

If you have buildup in your heater core, odds are that your interior cabin heating problem is the least of your worries. If you've got sediment clogging your coolant lines, I advise you to get a coolant flush immediately.

I think he means crap cleaned out from between the vanes not thru the water passages. That should make a big difference. It's a routine maintenance procedure in HVAC.
