help W/ Build-up ideas.

Alright, I bought a 350 4 bolt main on wednesday, and need to rebuild it. I am trying to get ideas with what I can build here. This was my initial thought:

355 cu inch
bore .030 over
forged pistons
stock crank
vortec heads
vortec intake
dont know which carb
comp XE 274
long tubes

Anyway, I want to make close to 300 rwhp, through a 700r4. How does this plan sound? Any suggestions to change the plans? How about add where I am missing? I do not want to spend over 2 grand on this motor, but obviously willing to go over a bit, since it will take awhile anyway. So what is your budget idea for a nice 355?

I think that engine will rock pretty good. When you go to that kind of cam though you'll need a torque converter and also you'll have to watch your springs on those heads. I was going to get that same cam but the lift came too close to my max on my heads. I would suggest changing the springs out to the comp cams recommended ones. Also make sure you get roller rockers and change out the oil pump while you're under there. I would suggest the edelbrock rpm air gap intake if you want some rpms. As for a carb, get a holley 650 dp should make you happy. Good luck with the build up.

i too say go with the air gap manifold, a 650 holley or barry grant demon carb would be fine.

Sweet, just getting ideas for now. I will probably go with that air gap manifold. Think a 2400 stall would work good with that XE274 cam? Also, what gears, 3.73? What could I expect with a drivetrain like that? My goal is roughly mid 13s or better.

3.73 with the 700r4 should be fine, you could go with a 4.11 also depending on tire size. 13's should be easy with this combo if not faster depedning on suspension setup.

since this is not my daily driver, I have nothing but time to do this, so I plan on doing a nice suspension so I can hook up at the track. Also plan on a better rear end, so i can run drag radials.
