How Come My Car Didn't Have Dual Cats??
Hey Dudes, I noticed that a few people in here have 89 GTA's with Dual Cats. I have a 89 5.7 GTA, and when I got my exhaust system done, and I removed the cat, there was only one to remove. Why didn't I have dual cats?? Just curious.
Thanks
Mike

I dunno, I noticed that my '89 IROC doesn;t have 3.27's in it...and some do...damn.
Uh...could be because of the option package the car came with?

I don't know man, my car has the 3.27 gearing. Maybe the 5.0 cars had the dual cats.

i also have an 89 GTA and i only have one cat. I think it was just part of the options packages because i know there are other 89 GTA 5.7L that have dual cats stock.

I got all G92 options on my 89GTA .... not sure what triggered and what didn't but check your RPO's cause the previous owner could have been a moron and just replaced with what was easier not better.

It was a option back in 89 for the dual cats RPO code N10, I think after 89 they all came with it from the factory. BTW mine has dual cats

Thanks guys, I guess it was just an option choice. I can't check my RPO sticker, because the damn thing is missing
Thanks for the info!

I know on my 89 GTA 305 speed; It cam with 3.45 9 bolt rear, 5500 redline tach, but no AL driveshaft or dualcats, so i think some of those things people say like all 5 speed IROCS and GTA's had the N10 opt. or 350s with 3.27 gears and 9 bolt are myths and some of us were unfortunate enough to not get the dual cats or AL driveshaft, but whatever, I have a AL driveshaft now($140 used, and a random tech cat(too much $$)
