Little problem

I am having trouble hooking up an OPSU on my 84' Camaro. I just dropped another 305 into the car. Before I put it in, I tried to remove the plug that was in the top of the block, the standard location for my canister-style sending unit. The plug would not budge, and got stripped (I even used an 8-point wrench, which is designed for square nuts/bolts). Is there an adapter that can be used to relocate the sending unit to the lower hole (by the oil filter)?

The block I dropped in has a sending unit down there already, but it has a two-pronged end, with a three-wired plug. I doubt that would help me any. I have the haynes manual for the car, but it goes from v6 right to TPI, skips right over the carbed models. The diagrams for the TPI don't help at all.

Take both pieces to the hardware store, find a brass adapter fitting.

Cool. I wasn't sure if the canister style sending unit would work down there. Good to know, now i have something to do this evening.
