Intake, 2 Questions????

I might be getting a new intake shortly and I am probably going to go with the Edelbrock Performer. My first question is is it really worth the extra $100 for the air-gap. And if I do, right now I have no room under my hood, but I do have a 1" carb spacer for adaptability purposes. Now with the edelbrock carb. could I do away with the spacer and be able to run the air-gap, or should I just not worry about the air-gap.

For a daily driver I would NEVER put on a manifold that does not have a functional exhaust crossover passage. The air gap RPM does not. Of course, if you are running heads that don't have exhaust passages in them (some aftermarket ones, Vortecs do not) then it doesn't matter anyway, so go for the air gap manifold in that case.

Put the manifold on without the spacer first and then see if you can fit it back on. Probably not, though. Spacers work well if you have the hood clearance.

Gold 85 Camaro with no motor, pulled the 2.8 to make way for a 350 wich was pulled this summer because a 406 will replace it. The 406 sports a stock bottom end with ARP bolt holding it togeter, flat top hyper pistons. Comp 282 solid cam(.528 lift with 1.6 rockers) Savin up for my Sportsmen 2 heads right now. still Have the perf RPM and 650 DP i used on the 350. Headers and 3inch exhust. Shooten for mid to low 12s next summer

You really think I should get the RPM, my redline is 5200rpm and the motor stops pulling a little lower than that. I figured the Performer would be the best. Anyone else have other suggestions.

I was just looking in Summit and I see that they sell their own intake, which looks the equivalent of the Edelbrock. And I can get a polished one for $150. Anyone think this would be a good pick.

The Performer RPM will not fit under a stock hood with a carb. and air cleaner on top of it.
the performer will.
I tried the RPM and was able to close the hood with the carb on, but could not get an air cleaner on top of it.
