intake gasket removal suggestions?
Ok, for reasons I won't go into, I need to remove my freshly installed intake manifold on my new crate engine (engine has not been run, still on the engine stand). Those Edelbrock intake manifold gaskets REALLY stick! Is there an easier way to get the gasket material off of the head surface? I may be facing a lot of scraping on this thing and I'd love to find a way to get this stuff off without scratching up the heads. Any suggestions that are quicker than the old scraper and is also kind to the head surface?
Thanks for any assistance.
Brad

At school, we have a 90* die grinder that we can put those Scotchbrite pad things on them, I've thought of buying one for home just to take off gaskets.

Thanks for the replies guys. I believe I have a plastic scraper in the garage for the main stuff. That scotchbright pad idea is a good one. These gaskets have a special bead of sealer around the ports that is murder to get off and the pad idea may just make this a bit easier task, I'll check it out. Thanks again!

I use a scotchbrite pad alot at work, just be careful not to hold it in 1 spot for a long time, it will take metal off. There is a different type of pad that looks like rubber, usually green or yellow. Works good and doesnt take off metal, really good for alluminum heads. If your worred about messing the heads up then just use the scrapper and some brakeclean to wipe it up.
