his car seem so quick? CR? is mine too low?
Well first lets start off this is somewhat about my brothers camaro, but pertaining to mine. my brother put together a "junkyard 350" pretty much, using mostly stock gm parts... he has a 350 4 bolt main that was sitting in the ground for 2 years. he ridge reemed it and honed it by himself and put it together, then he used stock 118 casting aluminum corvette heads, rpm cam and rpm intake with a 800dp carb. i beleive he has slightly dished pistons and the heads are 58cc chambers(but i think they have been worked on)
well alot of my friends and locals do some testing on ther g-tech's and often they seemed to be not even a tenth off...but approx 2mph off(faster on the g-tech than on an actual track) well my brother has a stock 700r4 and 3.73's with a posi, stock crappy tires and with a passenger he g-teched a 12.5 @ 113...but i told him to try it the opposite way he did in the first place to see if it was a slop in the road. well the worste he ended up getting for mph wise was 111 but mostly 12.5-12.8 hopefully he'll run it at the track soon to see if its accurate, but im wondering.....
WHY IS HIS CAR SO FAST???? could it possibly be that he has a good combination of parts? i know he's running high compression because he cant run full timing advance without detonation and 93 octane.
now what he g-teched is about what i ran with my camaro and a 400.(info in my sig) but this year im going back to carb with an rpm air gap intake and 850dp carb. now it seems mysetup with only 9.6:1 is kind of low.
So basically what im wondering is if i should bump my compression up?
im using stock headgaskets(i believe they are .042 thickness) so should i have the heads angle milled and use thinner headgaskets? my heads are 70cc and i have dish pistons. or should i leave it alone. i know i lost some mph from the fuel injected setup vs. my carb. but i want to get other peoples opinion on what i should run, i dont mind running 93octane. ill keep my engine cool, i have one step colder plugs ect.
