High Idle, no brakes. Loss of vacuum?

High Idle, no brakes. Loss of vacuum?
I finally got around to replacing my leaking header gaskets with copper ones, and decided to put on my new valve covers while I was at it. I found out that the passenger side PCV grommet was the wrong size, and running the car with that open made it idle high and not hold any vacuum for the brakes. I got the right size grommet at NAPA and attached the PCV valve on the passenger side, but I still have no brakes and a high idle. I double checked everything on the TB, I reconnected everything. The only thing I can think of is that I must have broken a vacuum line or something while I was working on the car. I've looked around, and nothing is unusual from what I can tell, but I am no expert. I have to fix this today so I can drive to Texas tomorrow, so I need to figure this out.

Dead ringer for a big vac leak somewhere.
Worked before you changed the PCV? My bet is something wong with the PCV - try pulling the hose off the valve while it's running and hold your finger over the hose to check for vacuum. If that fixes it something's wrong with the PCV valve.
If not that, try doing the same thing at the brake booster. There should be *some* vacuum there even if there's a leak, unless the hose is cracked or has pulled off somewhere.
good luck

ding ding! we have a winner
I hate that kinda thing. At least it wasn't something important - like an oil drain plug or something.
