grinding/scraping sounds from right rear..

I did a quick search but still not positive what my problem is... i went for a quick test drive today since i'm still finishing my car, and i noticed that it sounds like somethin is grinding or scraping against the right rear kinda like the back of the passenger floor pan area.. (easy to pinpoint with no carpet)

it does it in both forward and reverse and i think it got faster as i went faster (not real sure cause it was hard to hear once moving over the exhaust..

from the search, i'm guessing wheel bearing.. but what is the best way to check this? i have the rear end jacked up now and put the car in neutral and spun the wheel both ways and didn't hear a thing..

so anyone have any other ideas on a possible problem? or if you think it is the bearing can you tell me how to check it?

thanks
-Bob

best way to locate the problem would start with inspecting parts around the area in question. you might have to jack the car up and get under it too.

yeah i've been under it for the better half the day, tryin to figure out what is wrong.... and frankly i can't see anything bad... shocks look ok, bushings look fair... only thing i can think is that the exhaust is hittin somethin....

on my last test drive i hit a bump and it sounded like somethin hit metal on metal real hard...

i'm gonna play with it more in the morning... to rule out the exhaust i might end up just takin it off and goin for a drive on open headers.. which is gonna be REAL loud.. so i'm sure my neighbors are gonna hate me even more than they do now..

but if its not the exhaust hittin anything i have no idea as everything else looks fine..

universal is good, i'm gonna play with the brakes this afternoon, but i don't think that is the problem since i also discovered yesterday that they aren't even working for some reason...

the reason i'm thinkin it might be the exhaust is the PO had the exhaust just hanging with those worm drive radiator hose clamps cause all the stock hangers are broke off.. so it isn't like there is a whole lot to keep it from movin around...
