my car is burning coolant.....

i cant seem to figure out whats wrong with my car, its burning coolant cause i can see it coming out of the exhaust and i can smell it too, my car really overheated the other day pretty bad when it pushed the coolant back into the resevoir and it started boiling out the top, but when it cooled down and i started it again it started puffing coolant out of the exhaust and i can smell it from under the hood somewhere, i dont want to drive it until i figure out whats wrong with it.

whats wrong with it?

It's possible. I wouldn't scrap the car over a head. You should be able to pick up a good pair cheap. If you're going to go to the trouble of changing head gaskets, an extra $100 or shouldn't be too bad. But if you do scrap it, let me know where you're located. I might need some parts. Where are you located and what engine do you have? I have a set of heads off of an 87 305tpi motor that ran great. They're 081 castings.

You should be able to pick up a set of heads for around $100 in useable condition that you could just put on the engine and run them. I wouldn't be too worried about it. A spun bearing or something like that is a lot worse. Besides, it's probably an 80% chance that it is just the head gasket.
