Car wont start?

Yesterday I switched over from shorty headers to full length headers (pain in the *** dont do it unless you have a full afternoon and are totaly sure you need them) and while I was pulling the plugs and wires I noticed that the firing order was not correct. I did not do the firing order on the car originaly and trusted the guy who did it. So I put the firing order the way it should be and now it wont start and of course I didnt write down the one it had because it wasnt right. My question is are there any alternate firing orders for non LT1-LS1 small block chevys and will the wrong order damage my motor? I know crane sells a cam that switches 4 and 7 around but I am scared to try switching 4 and 7 on mine in case it can cause damage.

Ps I have a stock ZZ4 crate motor no mods yet

that'll have the exact same firing order as all other plane jane SBC's. I don't memorize it, but do a search to find it out...

you'll have to start from scratch now, to be sure it'll all right in order.
Pull #1 plug, and bump the starter slowly until you feel the air pressure, then watch your balancer. Use the balancer bolt, and rotate the engine to ~10* before TDC. Then look at your distributor, see which post the rotor is pointing to, put your #1 plug wire on that, and go around clockwise in the firing order. Hook it all up, but leave the dist a bit loose. Get a buddy to crank it over while you rotate the distributor. Once you get it running, get buddy to hold it running, since timing will probably be wayyy off, and it probably won't idle. Get him to hold it running, and set to ~30* timing or something. Then he can take his foot off and it should idle. Reset your base timing as you desire, and go (back) to town

I have never heard of a small block running right without the order bieng right!

Send us a pic of the top of your block with the distributor in the pic

Put little numbers by the general area of the 1-8 cly:show us where your no1 is on the dist. and check it like Sonix said.

Are you sure that U are not mistaking no. 1 for no. 2

I am putting together my c-10 and I just put the ceramics on it and setting the dissy. when I went to put the little paper towel ball in no 1 plug hole I took a second to think about it

I think It had something to do with the diggeties

yea the reson it was not running was my stupidity i had the wires going counterclockwise instead of clockwise I am still trying to figure out how it was running with the firing order wrong though. It definantly runs better with it right
