hey all, I need ideas. I have a pretty good vibration at 1900-2100 rpm. happens in all gears, happens in park, happens in neutral. So Who has idea's of what it could be.. It's on a 1983 camaro 305 (L69 was swaped in after I blew my porginal up about 2 years ago) except for the carb/disty/intake, which is aftermarket.

well my first guess would be to look at the balancer and check to makesure it is still intact then any rotating parts inlcuding flexplate and all pullys

Check to make sure your drive shaft doesnt have and kinks or caked on rust on it.

that would only apply if it didn't do it in park or nuetral as well. it is before the driveshaft. I have narrowed the possibilities down to 3. Dampener or my carb tune went strange, Or I have suddenly developed a vac leak which happns at that rpm. which would also probably be in the carb somewhere I am sure. Stupid carb is going to drive me crazy.

well the carb doesnt just up and change it self... you wouldnt have much vacuum at all around 2000 so it wouldnt be a vacuum leak especially if it is idleing normal

it could up and change itself if say a gasket came apart.. or any number of other one of the gaskets or o-rings tore from old age. Could be the vacuum secondaries. And at cruising speed you have vacuum..

how old can this after market carb be? a year 2? yeah you would have vacuum at 2000 but not enough to cause this not even close

aftermarket carb = about 5 years old. Just because something is aftermarket does not mean it is brand new. Just saying. I have some aftermarket parts for an old 1965 chevy truck that are about 30 years old lol. So really any number of things could actually happen. even on something brand new.. not every single one is made perfect, and there is always a possibility of material defect. Either way I am getting a new carb.. this one has given me headaches for long enough (everything from shooting gas out of the of the fuel bowl through the tubes, whith the floats set correctly BTW. at least with them set correctly for this elevation. apparently going from where I am to 7500 feet or so has adverse effects on that. only time it ever did it. To any number of other small oddities. Perhaps it is the vacuum secondary thouh.. the spring could be gettin weak allowing them to crack open to soon... or something along those lines. I suppose a lean condition would do that...

flexplate.. my friends fathers jimmy used to vibrate and it was a cracked flexplate..

hey if you are so certain its the damn carb just replace it that is what you wanted to hear right? but when you realize how silly that sounds... if your secondarys were opening to soon you wouldnt go lean if anything i think you would be rich and even if you were going lean that wouldnt explain the vibration in neutral

but hey you wanted to answer your own question so why bother posting it you could have saved us all a bunch of time and just shotgunned parts at it till it works

and your little story about the fuel bowels... not possible if anything you would have been sucking the bowls dry not flooding as the increase in altitude would mean less pressure on the floats and they would float higher in the gas than normal...
