fighting a rapid oil leak...im losing

Have a pretty rapid oil leak streaming down the driver's side of the bellhousing and dripping off the center, dripping off of the slave cylinder as well.

I removed all plumbing along with the oil pressure sending unit.....got a new unit in there, put sealant all around the threads for the plumbing, put it all back in nice and tight.

I removed both valve covers, since the oil leak seems to be WORSE when in my steep driveway, I figured the driver's side corner was leaking. Replaced valve covers with thick edelbrock elite series covers and felpro steel core gaskets + sealant.

Started it up today after replacing a cracked coolant line....no oil leak for a pretty long time i was happy. but then it came down the side of the bellhousing and down off the slave cylinder again.

I was told something else to check is the intake manifold itself, but I'll have to wait for the engine to cool before I go and do that.

anyone else got any ideas???

EDIT: forgot to mention, the back side of the flywheel is completely dry, so its not the RMS

well the valve covers probably didnt have anything to do with it as the heads dont really hold enough oil to leak like that... i would say you need to check the back of the intake where it meets the block... how much oil are we talking about?

Cool,
Never heard it called that.

He means the rear block rail where the back of the manifold sits.
Probably that, or oil pressure sensor not screwed in tite
enough if thats where your pulling oil pressure from.

Re: fighting a rapid oil leak...im losing

1. RMS.....flywheel is dry
2. Valve Covers.....new valve covers and gaskets
3. Oil Pressure sending unit.....new sending unit, retightened and sealed piping
4. distributor......new o-ring and sealant...managed to slightly screw up my timing....but it is seated in the correct slot =P

im going to start pulling **** off the car tomorow to remove the intake manifold.....i think im going to take this opportunity to install the edelbrock hi-flo base. This problem has turned into a part buying opportunity for me ... heh. i want to drive it soon though, i only got to drive it with the new 3" cat back 80 series flowmaster setup for one day!
