High rpm miss

I have a miss at about 4500rpm. The tach flutters and the engine will not rev past that point.

I have replaced the fuel filter. I have fuel pressure while the engine misses. The car runs good otherwise, no lack of power.
I have a digital 6 msd box and the rev limiter is set at 6500rpm, I tried putting it higher and it didn't help.

On the last run with the car, with about 15 minutes of driving, the car started to stall.

The plugs are good and only about 300 miles.

Could the problem be an ignition module? How would I test it?
Any other suggestions?

Re: High rpm miss

what info exactly?

The engine ran fine at the track for a couple runs and then for the next 2 runs it did the above mentioned problem.
I have the stock dizzy and ignition module.
My wires are msd and about 3 years old.
I have a digi 6 box and a msd coil.

Re: High rpm miss

Yes, although after driving it for awhile, it seems to be getting worse. It stalled on me when I took it for a ride on sunday.

Re: High rpm miss

i would test the ignition module . i dont know if there is a way to check it in the car .i dont think there is but i may be wrong. just pull it out and take it to auto zone or a similar parts store they can test it there. and if its bad they auto zone stocks some accel ignition modules.if it isnt that maybe try another set of plug wires if you have them just to be sure wires are good. maybe try bypassing the msd ignition if nothing else works

Re: High rpm miss

I put in a new MSD 8366 distributor.
I believe that it fixed the problem. I can rev past 6k no problem now.

I wasnt' sure if it was the module, dizzy or cap.
