Re: head casting info

Actually they're 87-92 heads. Valve sizes are correct 1.84"/1.50". And the combustion chamber size is 58cc's.

Re: head casting info

they are pretty good heads for a 305 and a nice punch for a 350 with bigger valves

get a cam under 470ish lift and put a set of z-28 springs in there with a good exsaust and intake and bam

you will blow it up in a week and build a 350

Re: head casting info

Again he could do his research and work his heads into a 350 build without the bad timing of blowing his motor first though right?

Re: head casting info

the ole lg4 has already been shot. she might be salvagable. however, i already have a 350 bored over 60 (the cylinders were that bad) that will be going in it place just was thinking about reworking my heads and adding them into the project instead of buying brand new ones

Re: head casting info

There's more to heads than just combustion and valve size. Intake runner size determines how much air gets sucked into the engine. Restrictive ports means no air for bigger engines that need it.

There's only a small handful of 305 heads that can feed enough air into a 350+.

Factory 305 heads that will feed a mild 350 well: 601, 416, 081. They have the same port sizes as iron L98 heads. 1.94" intake valves, and 1.60" exhaust valves if you like, with basic port/bowl clean-up, will easily support a 350 HP 350.
