HELP! Can't get knock sensor off
I can't get the knock sensor wire unplugged from the knock sensor. It looks like there was another type of clip on the plug that busted off...maybe this is why I can't get it off? I don't know, I don't want to break it though.
I was trying to remove the clip so I could test the wire voltage, because I'm having code 43. Since I couldn't get the wire off I tested the voltage from the pin F9 on the ECM...this would essentially be the same thing right? It even reads low voltage from the ECM pin ~1.25 volts. It's supposed to be between 4-6 volts.

Re: HELP! Can't get knock sensor off
Well first off i wouldnt worrie about measureing the voltage from the sensor as its only a few milivolts (i believe .08 VAC is normal) So you wont be able to see much. Now the code 43 is the ESC modual. Now they way this all works is the knock sensor goes to the ESC modual and the ECS relays a signal to the ECM if there is a knock present or not. Now its supposed to be between 8-10V when everythings fine and 0V if a knock is connected if im not mistaken. So natrally the comp would be alittle confused if it saw a 1.25 volt signal. What you need to check is the output of the ESC modual it should be the same as what you measured at the ECM assuming thats the right pin you measured as i dont recall what it is off hand.

Re: HELP! Can't get knock sensor off
Thanks, I finally did get the clip off. I didn't know how it worked, apparently you have to squeeze it on the sides lol.
The voltage was still 1.25 there which probably means the ecm or mem-cal is bad. The knock sensor read correctly at 3.9k ohms.

Yes, the connector has a couple of "wings" that hold onto the tip of the knock sensor's electrical terminal. Squeezing the connector on it's sides bends the "wings" out far enough to allow it to release from the knock sensor.
Too late to help, obviously, but you figured out the right way to do it.
