Altanator question...
Alright, I have an 89 Iroc, 350 in it.
Now,the battery is the red top optima, and all other electrical stuff is stockish.
I have removed the stock ECM, and stockgauge cluster.
The problems im having is, I have to charge the battery to get it going, it will stall as im driving due to no bat power. Other problems too, but these are the obvious.
Now, i read somehwere that the altanator uses the gauge inside te dsh to tell it to turn on? Anyway, would me removing any of these, be causing my alt to not charge the battery?

Re: Altanator question...
the voltage regulator regulates the voltage in the alternators rotor to increasse and decresse the magnetic feild if the reulators broken or not getting a signal there is no magnetic field and no power is being made. for a quick little test just put a meter to the cas and postitive stud should be gettin 14ish v
