Due to it getting cold and the weather starting to change I decided to start doing another project in the form of weather stripping because the car is coming into the garage for the winter. I'm suspecting the high idle might just mean it needs to warm up, or it could mean something else is out of adjustment. I'm thinking of rebuilding the carb because it has 172K miles on it and it sat on a shelf for almost 7 years. When I fire it up to pull it into the garage I'll let it warm up and see if the idle drops. What I do know is if I plug up the air break going to the air cleaner, and throw the choke wide open (vertical) then blip the throttle the choke closes. That was done wtihout the car running though.
