ignition lock cylinder

Hey all,

I am in the process of replacing my lock cylinder and wanted to know if I had
to reprogram anything for the vats system.
Napa has a cylinder and key set for $30. I was informed I would have to take
my old key and have it cut to match the new key.
I know the resistance of my key pellet. Do I need to give napa this information to get the correct cylinder or is there unit a "universal" type and
you just replace the damaged one with theirs and retain the vats value already incorporated with the car?
I did check elsewhere on the boards and didn't get a definitive answer.

Help!!

Re: ignition lock cylinder

If you know your pellet value. Buy an complete kit from http://www.carlocksandkeys.com/servlet/StoreFront

There you can buy an ignition lock cylinder and matching keys with the correcet value for VATS. Then its just an bolt on for the ignition (I bought one set from him and it worked like a charm)

Let me know if you want some install/change pictures, I documented it and put it on my page (havent translated it to english yet but I got many pictures showing the change..)

page is http://irocz.info.se/ you have an US flag click it and get english and the go to Projects and down the page you have ignition lock change.

Feel free to ask any questions if you need anything

Re: ignition lock cylinder

Just checked out the website and emailed about having a replacement with my vats key code. They said they can do it and the price is pretty good.
Thanks for the info.
