heater issues, please help!!!

I'm having some issues with heater controls on a 1986 Berlinetta camaro, the controls don't operate at all. I've checked all the fuses, wiring, and components. I haven't been able to track down the problem. The blower motor does work in all speeds if you manually apply power to the correct corresponding wires. about the only thing that does work is the wiper controls and the illumination of the complete unit. The LED's for the speed selection, and or vent selections don't light up either. I have tried another control unit in which I purchased from Ebay, with the same results. The car has been sitting for a long time, with only 24,000 original documented miles. I have already removed the speedo cluster and had that serviced because it was reading erractically (problem is solved with the cluster). I'm really trying to get this operating correctly, but I believe that the controls themselves maybe bad. I have heard that they were known to go bad frequently. Any advice or repair tips would be greatly appreciated

Re: heater issues, please help!!!

I'm guessing the hvac is stuck on defrost?

You need to get the vacuum to the control. Mine was disconnected near the brake booster.
