Excess Burnoff
My SEL light has been on for quite awhile. I diagnosed the car and it came up with MAF Excess burnoff.
From a small standpoint, does that mean the MAF needs cleaning? It has a slightly rough idle, but nothing dramatic. It drives fine as well.

Re: Excess Burnoff
Update: Alrighty, I disconnected the battery and took off the MAF. Everyhting is in tact. I sprayed it with CRC cleaner and let dry.
While waiting, I used a napkin and cleaned any dirt/dust around the rim surrounding the MAF. I also cleaned around the throttle body ports and the napkin came out a lil black (wasn't too bad).
After all that, I assembled everything back up and made sure all connections was on snug, and fired it up. Man it idled beautifully. Drove it around for a bit (30 miles) and turned it off.
IMO it seemed to work. The next day, I raised the idle from the usual 500 up to 700. So far, all is sound and good
