Got her running and stuff (also help identify broken piece)

I wrote up a bit not because I want to bore anyone; I simply want to share my experience...

Thanks to all the help here, I was able to get the mechanical fuel pump installed properly. This last Saturday, I hooked up new rubber lines to the pump (main and vapor return) and managed to get that reluctant steel line hooked into the pump and carb properly. Ok, time to start her up. Hit clutch in, tap accelerator a few times, turn key over... nothing, not even those clicking sounds. Tried same procedure a few moments later, nothing. Not sure what to do next and since I've had positive results from seafoam in the past on other vehicles, I decided to pour an entire bottle of the stuff inside the gas tank (the owner said the poor car hasn't been started up for some time and I was thinking the fuel had turned to gel by that time), and take a 10 minute break for water (its about 105 degrees here).

Nearly fainting from a lack of optimism, I followed the same procedure as above, and it starts up! Wow, I'm shocked. The thing is, she sounds quite loud (perhaps I'm not used to a 5.0L engine) and inconsistent -not sputtering, but fading in and out (I think the carb needs to be adjusted or most likely overhauled). I let her warm up for a few minutes, then tapped the gas to allow her to calm down a bit. I allow her to stay running successfully for about 12 minutes, then turned her off. I shot a low quality video seen here. I think I'm missing that intake tube that connects to the air cleaner as well. Yes, she is filthy under the hood, and I intend to clean her very well. Question: what's the safest and most effective degreaser / cleaning agent I can use for under-the-hood and under the car as well?

I heard a hissing sound under the hood while she was running, it looks like part of the silly emissions system. I've attached a screenshot and circled it in green. It appears to be broken off sadly due to being a cheap plastic design, and this weather here doesn't do it any justice. Other question: what is this broken piece called and where can I find a replacement, or what can I do to MacGyver it. Are there any aftermarket emissions kits that reduce or condense the amount of wires and sensors used unlike the stock emissions system? Many parts of the emissions system are brittle plastic due to age and heat damage, I hope I can replace them

On Sunday, she started up fine, I allowed her to warm up long enough to get the engine warm, then changed the oil - not alot of clearance room to get an oil filter wrench going, eh?

thanks for listening to my babble

I believe that is a check valve. I would epoxy it together for now. Finding it might not be easy.
